This is happening in 12.04. The instructions above do not work. Is there

The release notes all state that you must update the installers before
upgrading. That's why we have release notes :)

debian/changelog warns not to upload because another ABI break is coming
soon, but this warning dates from November. Michael, is this ABI change

This problem should actually be fixed in the current bzr trunk. Kudos to
Donkult (both debian-experimental and ubuntu). There are some ABI issues
I will see if I can backport the fix easily.
