I still have the issue on my Acer 8930 with the Intel Corp 5000 AGN
wireless adapter. Nm-applet says the device is not detected and system
settings Network manager says unavailable. I never downgraded just
manually added my wifi settings to the interfaces file.
Would be nice to have this bug
I fixed the issue by purging Network-Manager, rebooting and installing
Network-Manager again, and hashing out /etc/network/interfaces setting.
All working now.

[Thinkpad x201] Regression - Wireless networking doesn't work
Since a similar bug was closed as Invalid due to being fixed in an
update, could you please try again and comment here if it changed
anything after making sure your system is fully up to date?
My system here, also running iwlagn (but not the same device or laptop),
I have no issues clicking on
Indeed it seems to be fixed for me. But I'm not the original poster. My
Problem occurred on a DELL Lat E4300. After installing all updated, NM
is happily connecting again to the known networks.
Thanks cheers,
Riko

Mathieu: Yes, I just did an update on the x201 and rebooted and now NM
connects properly. So whatever was done resolved the issue for me.

I'll leave it to you guys to close this if you wish... I feel a bit
slimy marking my own bugs invalid (unless they were never really bugs to
begin with)...

I can confirm the problem. Did an upgrade from 11.04 yesterday. In the
end I did the work-around of downgrading to the Natty version of NM:

I think, this bug is related, since those symptoms I experienced myself
when trying to re-add the network connection:
