Yesterday, I got tired of this bug, and decided to reset my profile to
try to get rid of it. I deleted (well, renamed, anyway) my ~/.config
directory, and logged out, then back in. Sure enough, I had a default
profile, with a nice, non-truncated dashboard. I was pleased. So, I
customized my
Yup. It's tiredsome to report bugs in Unity (and there are plenty..)
when they just don't get fixed.
Or of they do, the usual reply is wait for 6 months to get the fix with
new distro release, and have fun fighting new bugs we introduce. which
maybe gets fixed in another 6 months. repeat..

i have the same problem here with the labels in oneiric after changing
the text scaling factor from 1,0 to 0,8 with the help of the gnome
tweak tool.

How come bad graphical bug on a basic function like font-size change
that messes up whole Unity ui gets only medium priority?
