Title:
[Oneiric] No sound after lock screen
Affected. Happened 10 minutes ago while my web browser was about to load
a flash based web site. This happens at least once a day with different
circumstances.
The fastest way to get back to work is to drop to the tty-shell and
restart lightdm. Restarting and/or killing pulseaudio fixes nothing.
On my system (Thinkpad W510 laptop), something switched all audio output to
HDMI during the Kubuntu Oneiric upgrade.
This left me with no working sound, since I had no HDMI monitor plugged in.
To find and fix this, I used the KDE System Settings GUI:
System Settings -- Multimedia -- Phonon
For me the problem is resolved only after unplugging the USB Web-Cam.

[Oneiric] No sound after lock screen dialog (after upgrade to
I had the same issue upgrading from natty to oneiric.
In my case I was able to resolve the issue by running aptitude, which
indicated my system was broken. It's default resolution, where it
removed over a hundred packages, fixed the problem for me, after a
reboot.
