Public bug reported:

My menu applets crashed in this order:
- disk mounter
- session-manager
- gnome updater

then I noticed the heatsink to be putting out really hot air - and the
memory usage to be at 100% - when really using only about 15%.

I turned off my laptop so I wouldn't melt the mobo, and when I rebooted
I had several filesystem errors. I manually did fsck in safe mode and
fixed all the errors.

Version info:
Edgy eft on a Dell Inspion 700m (32-bit Pentium M)

** Affects: Ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
