Upon upgrading from 11.04 to 11.10, Nautilus doesn't start automatically
and doesn't start manually. When started from terminal, it gives the
following output:
Gtk-Message: Failed to load module canberra-gtk-module
Gtk-Message: Failed to load module
the issue is indeed a local installation you did:
libgtk-3.so.0 = /usr/local/lib/libgtk-3.so.0 (0x009ec000)
that version is taking over the Ubuntu one and creating your issue
