@fain182, thanks for the information. Assuming you have the same
hardware as the original reporter, could you please attach alsa-info
(from a 12.04 installation) according to
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/AlsaInfo ? Thanks!

@fain182, according to your alsa-info, you're running an old 3.0 based
kernel. Make sure you run a 3.2 based kernel for precise. If you do
that, I hope the problem will be fixed.

This is not fixed.
I upgrade to Precise, but:
- alsa-hda-dkms is not present for precise
- I uninstalled alsa-hda-dkms and phone doesn't work no more

The dkms works partially. Yes the headphone started to work but the
volume control behaves weird. I made a screen capture (see attachment)
to show what's wrong. In this video I change the volume by the volume
buttons on the keyboard. In a terminal window I have alsamixer running
to see how the
BTW: I guess the problem with controlling the volume I point out above,
is more related to the user interface than the driver.

Bug supervisors are the only people that can mark them as incomplete, I
have now marked it as Fix Released.
Please attach your screen capture to the following Bug Report #909723
which I have created as I too have noticed that issue but now got round
to opening a bug as there is a work
For me the line above was not necessary.

I installed it on 64-bit system and it works. I think this package is
compiled before installation.

Cool thanks, the driver plus adding line:
options snd-hda-intel model=generic
to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf and a quick reboot has fixed the
problem.
Shame this couldn't have come via an update.
Thanks for the heads up Piotr and linking my issue to this bug

I confirm that the latest upstream drivers (alsa-hda-
dkms_0.201112191418~oneiric1_all.deb) fixed the problem and now i can
hear the sound from the headphones audio output on my Lenovo ThinkPad
R61i laptop. Thanks!

Well, sorry to break it to you. None of those fixes work at all. If
anything, I think I see some changes to GUI settings over changes to the
fact my headphone jack doesn't work.
