Public bug reported:

What is expected to happen:
.exe files in File Manager has an icon based on their embedded icon and a 
generic "Wine program" icon

What happened instead:
The default icon for application/x-ms-dos-executable is shown instead

Based on the description in Ubuntu Software Center, I tried to launch it via 
Terminal, but it gives the error (as shown in the screenshot):
md5sum: : No such file or directory
/usr/bin/gnome-exe-thumbnailer.sh: line 134: printf: 0x: invalid hex number
wrestool: : No such file or directory
cp: missing destination file operand after `/tmp/tmp.Xq306YvS7d'
Try `cp --help' for more information.
