better. This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue?
Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images
are available
I get the same timeout error. looks like a problem with AMD
hardware(E350 based notebook). 3.0.0-7-generic seems to be working fine
for me.

Yes I did.
Yesterday, I was trying again and the WD Passport 1TB was still having
the same issue.
I also briefly tried a Seagate FreeAgent Go 500G, but that one seemed
to work OK. Did not try it long though
