In my rsync command I specified directory names so all the files get
copied, at least that has been my experience with rsync.

Whoops, I did use the *. Hmmm, that may explain it. I'll have to retry
with:
sudo rsync -a iso /
cd /iso
and see what happens.

I had the same problem. I forgot to copy the hidden directory .disk from
the cd. From the commands you posted this might be the same problem,
