Just to follow this up, although it seems to have been resolved since
before I posted, after a couple of days with 3.0.0.17, I haven't seen
the the problem occur again.

[ 3.0.0-14 regression ] Radeon 3200 GPU blank screen on resume
To
Strangely, this problem *started* for me on the 3.0.0.16 kernel. My
symptoms are the same as the initial report - Ctrl+Alt+F7 actually
switches back to the desktop. Once I'm there, however, I can't suspend
again without restarting the machine.
I'm using an Asus Eee with integrated Intel video,

Trying the above 3.3-rc6 x86_64 kernel with GNOME 3.2 under Oneiric and
it's suspending/resuming OK so far as well.

[ 3.0.0-14 regression
I've done several successful suspend/resumes with the 3.3rc6 kernel,
using Xubuntu, Ubuntu, and Ubuntu 2D sessions. No failed resumes. I
think it likely that I would have triggered the blank-screen bug at
least once if I had been running the 3.0.0.16 kernel during that time.
FWIW, I did have
No, you should be able to just download the .deb for your arch and
install it.

You can install the .deb with:
sudo dpkg -i FILE_NAME.deb
You can run sudo update-grub to automatically have grub updated to boot
the new kernel by default. However, it is probably best to not update
grub, and just select the new kernel from the grub menu.
The grub menu is hidden by default. You
Okay, I've installed and booted the 3.3.0rc6 kernel. Since the problem
is intermittent, I'll wait a few days before reporting back.
There was a DKMS error message when installing the test kernel, and I'm
unable to start one of my VirtualBox VMs when the host is running the
3.3.0 kernel.

After resuming from a suspend, the display for my desktop occasionally
stays in power-save mode. I can ssh into the box, but neither mouse
movement or keyboard activity brings the display to life. I don't
believe it's a problem with those peripherals, as the NumLock LED
responds to presses of
The issue is still intermittent with the released 3.0.0-15 and -16
kernels. I haven't figured out what makes it occur on some suspends but
not others.

I note comment #10 in bug #800140 reports a similar issue, and the whole
topic covers a similar error message.

I've been running it for a week now, as the bug's a bit intermittent,
and haven't managed to reproduce the issue with it. Will try with the
released 3.0.0-15 update now.
Incidentally I removed a stick of bad RAM recently which may have
contributed a little, but I suspect not wholly.

Sorry, disregard that, just resumed again and the error occurred under
3.0.0-15, in DMESG:

I can't reproduce it under 3.0.0-15.24, everything works as expected.
Sounds like a different issue to #904569 as that is a hang, whereas this
could be worked around by switching virtual terminals. Ah well, may have
been a temporary aberration of some kind with 3.0.0-14.
