Bug still applies in Lucid. In my view, this should really be fixed ASAP
as many Desktop users have a login for each family member. It gives a
very bad impression of Ubuntu LTS stability to new users.

Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue
for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? (9.10 or 10.04)

The bug occurs also without compiz: I've noticed that the problem is
related, instead to OPENOFFICE.
Open openoffice writer, start to write something, then switch user. Open
openoffice also there. Switch back. See what happens...
Now I upgraded to feisty, with feisty the problem doesn't occur.
