This problem is apparently gone in 7.10. Thank goodness for the
improvements.
I think NM still is a long ways from being a good software. It is too
simple interface for that. For example, there isn't even the
possibility to save Profiles. It's my personal view that the Intel
ProSet
networkmanager itself as well as drivers have improved a lot in gutsy.
If you still see this bug, please reopen and attach your /var/log/syslog
as well as /etc/network/interfaces file to this bug (right after
reproducing this bug).

Hello Alexander:
It is an IBM Thinkpad T42 with an Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network
Connection device.
I am using Network Manager Gnome to monitor the connection. Everything is
updated to the latest and greatest.
I am installing Ubuntu on the Windows XP laptop to see if the same issue
Months have passed. The bug remains Although with slightly less
intervals. Windows XP never drops, Ubuntu drops occasionally.

I am also having the same problem with a Thinkpad T40p. It has a Atheros
a/b chipset and randomly disconnects wireless.
A similar issue has been reported with wired connections in Bug #107589.

I too am experiencing this problem on a Fesity Laptop (Toshiba Tecra
M2). Random disconnects occur when the traffic exceeds a few kilobytes
across a WPA wifi connection.

I have a reproducible ERROR. After downloading a certain 777MB file
(http://www.linuxhardware.org/icculus-mirror/americasarmy250-linux.zip)
up to ~ 80% using Firefox DownThemAll! extension, the Network will Time Out,
and permanently disconnect.
