It was a good idea to release HUD early enough to a wider testing audience and
we all truly appreciate your efforts on managing the challenges.
I don't know about the history which leads to the alt-key decision, but I
wonder if it wouldn't be easier to make it a
press it quickly or it won't work. Can you try to press the alt key very
quickly and see if hud appears.

mentioned in overlay shortcuts.

The only way to launch hud is alt+print, which again invokes screenshot ui.
Imagine to work with gedit and wish to display hud it also displays
screenshot ui.

On laptop it also ignores 'alt'. The alt-key would only display the appmenu in
the panel.
Press alt+fn+print, release the keys, it will display hud and made a screenshot.
