Public bug reported: I upgraded my 11.10 machine to 12.04 a couple of days ago and have noticed that when ever I try and uses any of the lenses for searches it appears to cause the system to freeze shortly after. After running a top I noticed that at the time of the freeze these are loads of gst-plugin- scan processes spawned. The machine indicates it is about to become unresponsive as the mouse becomed juddery just before it stops reposning to input. I also notice the disk indicator light becomign highly active which suggests it is hammering the swap space.
See the attached screenshot to see a top output at the time of the freeze. I can replicate the isseu every time. I'm now going to leave it in this state to see if the kernel OOM process will kick in and bring the machine back to life. Please elt me know if you require any more debug info or want me to try anything. ** Affects: unity-lens-applications (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/940152 Title: Using Lenses causes system freeze after upgrading to 12.04 from 11.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity-lens-applications/+bug/940152/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
