Here is a debdiff that should fix this bug and also Bug #38017.
Unfortunately, this can't be uploaded, since avifile now FTBFS because of gcc :(

Here is a debdiff with the patch provided on the Debian BTS. It doesn't
ftbfs anymore, and avifile-player still starts without problem.
Unfortunately, I don't have some movies to test if it can still play.
