The 18 month support period for Feisty Fawn 7.04 has reached it's end of
life - http://www.ubuntu.com/news/ubuntu-7.04-end-of-life . As a result,
we are closing the linux-source-2.6.20 kernel task. However, this will
remain open against the actively developed kernel for a while longer.

The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.
There are one of two ways you should be able to test:

It unfortunately appears that this bug is not yet resolved. Would it be
possible for you to check whether this issue still exists in the Hardy
Heron 8.04 LTS release?

It would appear only to the xine engine, The gstreamer0.10 system appears to
work fine. The clock lagging is persistent though.
JUK with aRTS : works fine
Amarok with xine : stutters, tried all sound engine settings
XMMS : works fine
vlc : Works fine.

Sound skips every second
An extra thing noticed :
When the sound is stuttering, the system clock is lagging behind.
The sound hangs every second for about half a second.
I noticed that the system clock is exactly that hanging time slowed. It does
this also when there is no sound playing.
With the noapic flag is set ,

These are the results of the sound system :
I have not added the tests to see if the card is found, because the system
finds the cards and plays sound by it.
If the noapic flag is added on boot, everything is working fine though... These
are the results not having that flag set.

The problem is gone when booting with the noapic flag set in the grub
menu.lst entry.
