Public bug reported: In certain situations(A list follows), my graphics card(Nvidia GTX 590), and my integrated graphics card(Nvidia 6150SE) both receive invalid data, causing my monitor to err with 'Frequency out of range'. I have also tested other monitors, with the same results. This occurs when: 1)I am booting and am at grub2. 2)Ubuntu is booting after Linux has initialized, but before the X window system or LightDM have loaded. 3)I attempt to access one of the linux real terminals with [CTRL]+[ALT]+[F1-F6] ([F7] returns to X window system) 4)For a second after logoff, until the logon screen displays normally. Note:This appears to happen with all of the Nvidia driver versions, and nouveau. This bug should get some importance as if bootup fails, it is next-to-impossible to diagnose it without seeing the terminal. I have seen this starting with Natty, and continuing with Oneiric. I am using Ubuntu 11.10 amd64, on a custom-built PC. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: graphics linux xorg -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/980794 Title: All native Linux terminals and Grub unreadable To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/980794/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
