Public bug reported: Installed from ubuntu-12.04-desktop-amd64.iso inside of VMware Workstation 8.0.1 using the "easy install". After starting the virtual machine, lightdm does not start automatically. After logging in at the command line and typing "sudo lightdm", it starts as usual.
