well, it's not a bug in pam-auth-update either, that character is not present in the packaged version of pam-auth-update. I think you need to run 'sudo apt-get install --reinstall libpam- runtime' to get pam-auth-update reinstalled, because it appears to be corrupted on disk for you. ** Changed
