thanks Leann for contacting me. i entered the 2 lines in the terminal, copied and pasted, first time i use command so not sure if i omited any moves, but nothing has changed on ekiga or cheese, the camera is not detected. i am dual booting here, intel p4, xp and jaunty; skype and my webcam works well on this desktop. i installed ekiga for windows on xp as well but got the same problem than with jaunty as the microphone is detected but not the cam. i also tried ekiga on my xp pro sony laptop,,same! may be the problem lies with ekiga/logitch rather than ubuntu, keeping in mind that i, the operator may be the problem!!
