I did as you suggested and the problem seems to be solved. The last
updates were installed with no error messages at the end.

Ah, I misread the dmesg output.
You should try to dpkg --purge the package, clean the apt cache, and
reinstall it.
Since you seem to be the only one affected, it's likely to be caused
