Open up alsamixer in a terminal and check your volume levels. There has
been a lot of bugs about sound levels not being turned up/muted
recently.

Try adding snd-powermac to the /etc/modules file and reboot. You may
also need to change the sound to PC Speaker. I do that regularly to
fix G3/G4 macs when sound isn't present
