[Bug 54550] Re: Industrial broken in Edgy
I updated to gnome-themes_2.15.90-0ubuntu3 and it's still the same. I'm not using Xgl (I have an Nvidia card, and it doesn't seem to like xorg 7.1 very much - the text kept disappearing, so I turned off Xgl RenderAccel) -- Industrial broken in Edgy https://launchpad.net/bugs/54550 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 54888] No text editor marks text with ctr-shift-cursor
Public bug reported: Maybe it's a X11 keyboard design or GTK or whatever. After moving form Windows, text processing experience is much worse because of not being able to quickly mark long sequences of words with Ctrl-Shift-left/right. Maybe it's because I have Ctrl-Shift assigned to switching keyboard groups, but I have the same setup in Windows - and it works. [Bug 54627] Re: http USER-AGENT remains unused at h.u.c
I think even we need to be careful about making functionality assumptions based on USER-AGENT. I can think of a few scenarios where the example you provide would be counter-productive. The most obvious one is someone trying to learn more before upgrading. As a corrolary to that, I run my personal workstation much closer to the bleeding edge than the workstations I support. Most of them are still on breezy. One place where I *do* see some benefit in sniffing the user-agent header is software downloads. But there's not much call for that because apt-get takes care of that issue for us. 8^) -- http USER-AGENT remains unused at h.u.c https://launchpad.net/bugs/54627 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 54774] Re: add dapper-commercial to software-properties
It isn't sufficient because not everybody uses gnome-app-install. This repository contains two commonly used applications (realplayer and opera), and you are basically just saying: either use gnome-app-install to install them or use the command line to play with the repositories. This kind of package management elitism is a bad idea, in my opinion. The repository is being offered by Canonical, it contains popular applications, and it should therefore be included in the default repository management application. [Bug 54841] Re: rhythmbox crashes
Rhythmbox used to work for me on my workstation but now does not. I cannot remember when the change happened but I assume it was the Breezy Badger - Dapper Drake change. [Bug 54831] Re: Executable files should appear with a color
If I want color in this listing it is because it will be much more easy to find the name of executables that are in a package because it's a much more common way than to look for names that are in a /bin/ directory. Even if the permission information are not in the package file it should be possible to get it by querying the system... About the second part I know apt-file... I know apt-get... I know apt- cache... but Synaptic is a Graphical User Interface and so it should provide a common way to do this and avoid using the Comand Line Interface... because Ubuntu is for Human ;-) Regards -- Executable files should appear with a color https://launchpad.net/bugs/54831 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 54888] Re: No text editor marks text with ctr-shift-cursor
Sorry. I believe I moved selection from specify package to I don't know item... The steps to reproduce are: 1. In keyboard switcher applet setup Open keyboard properties/Layout options, set Ctrl+Shift to change keyboard group. 2. In OpenOffice.org Writer, or in GEdit, or even in Nautilus try to edit a text or a file name containing multiple space-separated words. 3. Press Ctrl-Shift-Right. Expected behaviour: in Windows, any edit item selects a word right to cursor. Actual: in Ubuntu Linux, keyboard layout is changed. Then keys work as if Ctrl or Shift is ignored, depending on what you press first. -- No text editor marks text with ctr-shift-cursor https://launchpad.net/bugs/54888 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 54888] It's a workaround, not a fix.
It's a matter of taste. One who used to have this style of switching wouldn't like to go for other. Maybe I can, but someone other wouldn't. It's clearly not a bug of some particular component, rather a imperfection of design. It works for Other Enemy System, so why not making it work in X? Now I clearly see it's a matter of X keyboard layout. It would be nice to change its logic to: a) switch on keys up, not down; b) process the keys only if there was no other key pressed before kays went up. -- No text editor marks text with ctr-shift-cursor https://launchpad.net/bugs/54888 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 54890] Re: The GTK_STOCK_DIRECTORY icon isn't being themed
@Carthic: thanks for proxying my bugreport. I couldn't manage to report it here for some reason (malone said the ubuntu-artwork package didn't use malone). Hence, i used reportbug... :) @Daniel: By GTK_STOCK_DIRECTORY i mean this item: http://developer.gnome.org/doc/API/2.0/gtk/gtk-Stock-Items.html#GTK-STOCK-DIRECTORY:CAPS While most of the other stock GTK icons are altered by Human theme, this one isn't. And considering, that you already do have a suitable item for this use (folder-open), and the default gorilla'ish one just doesn't fit in the context of orange folders, I think this should be addressed. A simple symlink or an edit of the theme xml file would do, IMHO. I'm not sure, but I think this icon is being used in Rhythmbox (File Open folder).
