This is the story w/ my Toshiba laptop, SATA disk which still does not
work w/ a dapper version beyond 2.6.15.20 (20 is OK now and is the last
one working). The mouse and the keyboard are frozen during the ID
session. I've got a pending bug on this but nobody seem interested.

I'd argue that
/etc/inti.d/avahi-daemon start
should start it unconditionally and then the toggling on and off should
be done with the addition or removal of symlinks. That's how rcX.d works
and it looks like that's how dbus works too.

I'm afraid I can't really confirm one way or the other for sure, but I
would say that the timestamps on the files are all earlier than the
timestamps on my comments. I would expect that those files have the same
timestamps as the files on the beta live CD, but I do not have one to
hand to prove

I disagree with the rejection. After the initial investigation, there
has been no support for this issue. I'd be happy to install the
hardware and demonstrate the failure (takes about 2 hours) if anyone
