I didn't have any problem disabling and enabling autohinting in debian or
ubuntu since I started using it.
I just do dpkg-reconfigure fontconfig-config
When you select native hinting, it doesn't create any symlink
When you select autohinting, it creates a symlink in /etc/fonts/conf.d/ to a
file
Sadly I do not have a Mac but you may want to try the solution based on
BootCamp in the Fedora Wiki:

This is half a me too sorta comment. I've an IBM T43p with an Atheros
chip built in, here's the lspci output:

But when I kill the passkey-agent process, the K symbol stops

Henk Koster: Installing network-manager (nm-applet) now fixes this

Caused by the fact that the rcS job is still running, reboot issues the

ALSA mixer shows the onboard sound as a VIA 8237 chip, which is on an Asus
A7V600-X motherboard which i have disabled in the BIOS.
I also have a Soundblaster Live! 5.1 card which should be the primary sound

I've tried booting without Xgl/compiz and the issue remains.
Then I've booted with edgy beta live cd and the image looked correct,

Hm i know it's bether if i report this as a enchancement but i have no time
right now - It would be nice if you can chose the video device into zapping
not only with the --device option.

g-p-m causes
atokx installs fine for me (I do not get any installation dependency
problem), but to completly test the installation process I have to own
atokx which I do not do.
Otherwise the installation quits like this:
