As the installation was required to continue, I converted the home LV
into a regular partition and installed the system using plain
partitions.

I didn't realize what the noise was, but my Toshiba M55 does it as well.
Except, it also did it under Dapper as well as Edgy. Does not do it

Confirm the same on a Toshiba M55-S3314 laptop.
On quitting, the hd makes a sort of dying beep sound, very rapid, as

But to keep the stuff working HIDD_ENABLED has to be set in

Looks like that the HP guys have fixed a bug in ADF scanning in HPLIP
1.6.10. So we should update our HPLIP package.

To check whether this bug is the same as bug #29050 can you set the BIOS
back to ECP+EPP or ECP and do
sudo modprobe ppdev
can you print this way, too?

Nop, wlanconfig is for madwifi-ng chipset, whereas what you made me
install looks more for linux-wlan-ng. The previous incantation
(Dapper) worked with the standard iwconfig, and _did_work_. My
hand-compiled wlanconfig does change the mode, but the card
_does_not_work_ as an access point anymore.

If I try to update my contact details, and click Save in the end, the
button grays out but the pop-up never closes. I have to click cancel to
get away from it. They're never saved, if I go to the window again it's
empty.

- upgrading Dapper to Edge
- Edgy Live CD (also Beta)
- Edgy desktop cd install
- Edgy alternate cd install
No problem with Dapper. With dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg choose VESA
driver (no autoconfig) I have X up running.

Only add deb http://people.ubuntu.com/~pitti/ddebs edgy main universe to
your repos. The wget command is to get his key so you dont get the key
warnings. Instead of running sudo apt-get install yelp-dbgsym commnad
change the yelp to the package you want the symbols on.

firefox crash
I've got the same problem with my new Fujitsu Siemens Amillo Xi1526.
With plugged in headphone the normal speakers are still active.
It works under Windows.
Soundchip driver is intel-hda.

My 2 pence: it seems that sudo update-initramfs -u was rebuilding the
image for the generic kernel, whereas the default on my Thinkpad X40 was
the 386 kernel. So I might have fixed it straight away, but I didn't
know it! I was fiddling around for ages, and I have no idea which of the
steps I took
This sounds like the same problem I am having. Though I do not think it
happens all the time...
I go to a Bookmarks Folder and click Open in All in Tabs, and it crashes.
