Kicker dies randomly (usually a couple times per day), it is very annoying.

no, the vesa driver doesn't work in edgy for some reason. It doesn't do
anything after the splash screen and using pdkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
doesn't even work if I try using the vesa driver.

I can confirm this problem. I experienced the same symptoms, or rather
