After reboot it seems that all changes I made in alacarte was applied to
the menu. So although the alacarte UI and the menu itself didn't display
any changes, they would appear after a reboot, and I could also use
alacarte properly after the reboot.

and here the correct printout from firefox under WinXP.
The problem is not specific to this webpage, it happens - if I remember
right - with just about any webpage that I wanted to print out so far.
Therefore and considering the correct print out from firefox running
under WinXP, I believe that

Please check the Ubuntu changes and describe why they can be dropped.

This bug still remains in kernel 2.6.17-11 in Ubuntu 6.10. I tried the kernel
2.6.20-9 and acpi-support 0.91 from feisty, same problem, not working yet...
Any idea ? Shall we give up ?

Can confirm this with a fresh installation from daily/20070301/feisty-
server-amd64.iso.
Setup:
- only one disk
- md0 raid1 mounted as / (/dev/sda1 + other mirror missing, the installation ui
actually permits this)
- md1 raid1 unused (/dev/sda3 + other mirror missing)
