I tried Andrea's fix for the HorizSync and VertRefresh and it worked
for me too.
I dont think the problem is in the xorg.conf however, but probably
something going wrong with the ddc probe. Just a guess.

Yes, that must be the problem. I guess I had gthumb running without
toolbar before the said upgrade happened. I recently recursively unset
the gthumb gconf keys and the window contents came back. I couldn’t
track which setting it was, but /apps/gthumb/ui/toolbar_visible really
is the culprit.

The inability to run Runtime Revolution standalone apps directly from
the pendrive in Feisty Herd 4 also applies to Rebol standalone apps. The
message given by Feisty is:
Cannot open /media/KINGSTON/userapp
No application suitable for automatic installation is available for
handling this kind
So it seems that on the libgohoto2 update it was not taken into account
that UDEV had incompatible changes from Edgy to Feisty. So the
libgphoto2 update for Edgy needs to be fixed.
Easiest workaround until release of the fix: Add user cupsys to group
plugdev in /etc/group.

Confirming, vnc should just be removed entirely, and vnc4 should be
promoted to main. This needs UVF exception from Tollef ATM, though.

The new Kernel is not working for me. The graphical userinterface
freezes after some seconds. The only way back is to restart the whole
computer. You cannot even restart Gnome or do anything else by Keyboard.
But the -8 Kernel is working like a charme for me.
