Looks like a similar problem I've noticed when running GTK apps under
VNC shipped with FIesty.
The VNC server is advertising the XFIXES extension, which GTK Tries to

When it does so, the X Server rewards it with an XError, killing the
program. I'm about to file a bug
I forgot... the most useful thing I have to add to this thread!
Try running the VNC server with the option
-extension XFIXES
This disables the offending advertisment of XFIXES, and is useful
workaround for me with GTK applications.

Bugs,
Alexander,
Because... I think a lot of people use this feature.
For me, at least, is very useful when I want to check multiple links, just
clicking on them and going back.
And, if the resolution for this problem is so simple... why no implement in
Ubuntu?
:)

Is this still a vunerability in Fiesty?
Shouldn't Fiesty merge to the upstream version 4.1.2 which doesn't have
the problem? Its very confusing to tell if vunerable or not if fixes are
backported, but the version number is still based at the known broken
4.1.1.

Can I try this on my Acer aspire 1522?¿
2007/4/26, Thomas Renninger [EMAIL PROTECTED]:
Add a polling value per default is a good idea and a sane workaround
(the value should be a bit higher, e.g. 10 or 15 should be enough or it
might make problems on e.g. recent HP laptops).
Overriding
I'm not sure what you mean by modes. `uname -rm` returns
2.6.20-15-generic x86_64.

I had what looks like the same crash yesterday, on a laptop with 1 Gig RAM and
2 Gig swap.
Crashed after asking permission to delete obsolete packages, ate swap space
rapidly then out of memory.
System appeared to reboot OK afterward, though wireless networking was broken
by the upgrade.
