Evolution and firefox are both slow on my system re keyboard input. In
took about a minute for the summary line to show up (maybe 1 second per
character). In this comment area I'm typing 10 words ahead of what is
being displayed. Ditto evolution when trying to type in a new email.
Keyboard
On the same system Opera is fine, i.e. I can enter text on the search
line for google and it shows up as fast as I can type it. Versus
Firefox taking a minute or two to catch up on this simple comment.

You're right, the nvidia-glx/96xx driver is too old. I enabled nvidia
support via the restricted drivers manager, and then used synaptic to
switch from nvidia-glx to nvidia-glx-new with the latest versions of

When running gnome-appearance-properties only the first tab (Theme) sort
of works (I can click on different themes, but they aren't really
selected.
When clicking on any of the other tabs it seems like nothing happens (it
still
still, if somebody for administrative reasons, needs to shut down a computer,
reasons ranging from planned power interruptions to office relocations,
it still is nice being able to let somebody shut down the computer in
an orderly fashion.
Hence, the problem was not that a shutdown option was

It seems like this Firefox bug won't be fixed until Firefox 3.0, which
won't be released until November
(http://wiki.mozilla.org/ReleaseRoadmap). So, Gutsy Gibbon will ship
with a buggy Firefox and we'll have to work around it with DejaVu. Is
this correct?
