It's been a while since I have reported this bug. I've upgraded Gutsy to
Beta by now, but the situation has not changed. Is there a chance this
will be resolved before Gutsy Final? Or even, if recent kernels won't
see my touchpad, will future kernels ever find it?

I've finally solved this in my case: After detecting the second disk,
udev triggers a mdadm --assemble --scan as it should. This failed to
pick up the new disk. Removing num-devices=, level= and uuid= settings
from /etc/mdadm/mdadm.conf resolved this problem. My
/etc/mdadm/mdadm.conf now reads:

I can confirm this issue in Gutsy Beta, too.

happens to be one of those things that if it doesn't work, the people

I've got the same problem. I just installed the Beta, installed all
updates, then installed the nvidia driver. I restarted (the monitor
strangely flickered 3+ times) and voila -- no bottom panel until I click
the desktop.

upload I did one hour ago with openais 0.81-0ubuntu5 and redhat-cluster-

I can reproduce this using Juan's steps, even running -12ubuntu8. I've
attached a Xorg.0.log for one of the crashes I reproduced, but there
doesn't appear to be any relevant errors. Let me know if there's
anything else I can do to help debug this.

I have libgl1-mesa-dri but dri is still not enabled. Let me see if I
can load dri as an extension. Be right back.
Finished and loaded now working OK. Apparently the 16 megs on my video
card aren't enough for DRI at my current desktop resolution and depth,
but changing the depth to 16 bit worked
