I'd like to corroborate this for my Thinkpad T61p which has a 1920x1200
display.
I use the VESA driver exclusively. I find that the Screen Model titled 'LCD

Unable to uninstall
As an end user I don't care if I need a hp:/ or a usb:/ URI for my

I'm *NOT* using vesa driver. I'm using i810 driver (resolution is
1600x1200). The vesa garbage in the end is added by some GUI (kcontrol
etc.). I removed the unnecessary vesa driver section and tried again. I
made some new observations (I don't think the vesa driver has anything
to do with this).

I feel your pain. I now have two of these machines, and both do the
same too. So far they make a great fan and noise maker.
The issue as I see it is that the md5sum begins to fail on files part
way through the installation. The CD that I'm using has been used on
three other machines,

We should also add /etc/kubuntu-default-settings/* r to the mix.

I can confirm this bug. I got the exact same errors that Gelke got
(Pidgin and everything). In addition, I can't connect to my Exchange
server using evolution-exchange.
After using the suggestion from Giorgio, most of the functionality has
come back, especially after restarting the HAL daemon.

You mean 2.2.1 ? of well, this is a very old problem with the yahoo protocol,
it has been submited on the pidgin official bug tracker. It's related to the
yahoo protocol file changes... pidgin needs some updates, this also affects
windows, not just linux/Ubuntu.
