ldap. with the help of a #ubuntu-server regular i've managed to get it
going. for both of us, we had to install nscd

I have a Linksys WUSB11 V3 Wlan dongle for my PC. It is supported by the
Linux-wlan-ng drivers. Iwconfig reports that Wlan0 does not exist and
thus I assume that it is not being detected. I have had this card
working on Ubuntu and
I re-ran install, picking a username other than Nik, and install
completed sucessfully. The owner of ~/Nik is 1000/1000, so it was
probably a uid conflict between the old Nik account and the new one.
All is well now.

I made a new user and found that it does not have this problem. I guess
it is something about moving one's settings from a Gutsy setup. I've

maybe it's a result of huge massives of file storing as you do in windows...
i dont believe people suffer from that weird sound if they have an extra
partion for large binary objects.

Actually, I discovered that the problem (postgresql
server cannot shut down and cannot restart) is only a
problem with a non-default data location.
The postgresql.conf file has a data_directory value,
and if you set that to a non-default location, some
but not all of the data goes to that
