This could be dangerous on a dual core laptop, especially some dells
where the fans don't turn on till 70C and heat is an issue. Since
mixer_applet2 is not multithreaded, it only uses one core, (max 100%
cpu) and while everything heats up, the system nonetheless runs

I can confirm this behaviour under Gutsy with a nokia 6110 Navigator.
The solution for me is to type
eject /dev/sdb
on the command line after umounting

When inserting a CF unit with two UFS (OpenBSD) partitions, the unit
gets recognized, but the partitions are not mounted and produce
complaints.
The work-around is to mount manually:
