On a Linutop with General Software BIOS (build date: 2007-01-18), DDC
works like a charm and X auto-configuration succeeds too.
Earlier BIOS releases for the Linutop had DDC support disabled and a
serial console instead.

Google solved the problem. You have to install the package kdm-kde4 to
have the greeter plugin configured. I installed this package and now I
can lock the screen.
As this is some issue, perhaps add a dependency in kdebase-workspace to
kdm-kde4?

I am pretty sure that this isn't a real bug. The -intel driver had a similar
problem since Xinerama is deprecated and xrandr is used instead. I guess the
same has happened for the free radeon driver since Gutsy.

By the way, this issue seems to be caused by various things (in Gutsy,

I managed to produce it by changing the screen resolution and/or just

Just for information , I have installed Hardy on my laptop. I didn't
have usplash on the live cd but I was releived to see that it was
working after rebooting. I'll try with the next official hardy LiveCD .
On Gutsy , the problem exists on the LiveCD and on the installed

7.10. The speaker works fine, but when I plug in the headphones, the

It was there (i just upgraded my hardware so i can't test it again)
what happens is live CD boots into gnome and you can work from there the
install howewer doesn't and would fail out and freeze when you try to boot
it and console is non-responsive.

Error was due to bad xserver-xorg-core package. New package has already
been updated in the repositories. It is only need to update ubuntu and
restart the Xserver.

I believe I have found the problem.
If LANG is set to C in the environment where ltsp-build-client is
started, then 025-locales will still attempt to run locale-gen $LANG
inside the chroot. This won't work:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ locale-gen C; echo $?
1
It works fine if $LANG is set to a different
