I don't know if this is the client sending the wrong characters or the server
that's unable to receieve them.

I have now tested with alpha4, it seems to behave in exactly the same way,
the screen flashes blank fout times when it is trying to load X when
starting from the live-cd. The alternate-installer still hangs during the
installation-process (at a later stage than alpha3, but nevertheless hangs
I'm sorry but I've moved since I posted that bug, and my linux
computer is on a moving truck--soon to be going into storage while I
build my house. It may be several months before I am able to unpack it.

I got the same after Italian localization installation, but there is a
fix that I got from this post http://www.kde-

Changing the regional locale from Default to Italia and then set the

I have a similar problem with Gutsy's kernel. I have a USB Brother MFC
printer/scanner and an external USB hard drive that used to work
flawlessly in Edgy with uptimes of months on end.
Now I see that the entire USB subsystem seems to hang at some point.
