I get the same message in Hardy 6 on a Dell C610 laptop
as I do in Gutsy on a Desktop and nothing I do seems to
make it work, although the Gnome sound recorder worked
in Feisty. The strange thing is that the mic works when using

The patch seems to be needed, when the modules have to be built for a kernel
other than the currently running one.
I believe there where two typos in the patch:
It has to be ifdef KVERREL instead of ifeq KVERREL - module-assistant
passes the kernel

Thanks for the work around, I have a Dell X300 too and it was a real
pain before. Please can this get fixed in Hardy.

[gutsy] Closing the lid will crash the system no matter how the gnome power
manager is set, but system (Dell X300) will suspend/resume just fine in any
other way.
In 8.04 alpha 6 x86, my Keyspan USA-19QW works fine and the
/boot/config-2.6.24-12-generic reports that all Keyspan models are
enabled. This was not the case in 7.10.

Calling a PortAudio function like Pa_GetDefaultOutputDevice() returns a
virtual device using the OSS backend, not ALSA. This means all PortAudio
apps fail to run if anything else is using the sound device. This is
unacceptable behavior in the 21st century.

The solution to this problem is to add a build dependency
libsoundtouch-dev .
From the audacity developers, as soundtouch has not been modified by
audacity team for a while now, it is no longer included with the release
tarballs and system libraries should be used instead.

using '' with an insert:

It does work if I use NULL instead:
