I've had this issue since edgy, and I just used the 'sudo iwpriv eth1
set_mode 7' thing every time I moved away from my AP. Unfortunately this
doesn't work any more in Hardy. I still get limited at around 100KB/s
sometimes, but when i run the command i get 'Invalid command :
set_mode'.

itself I was again offered the choice of which smb.config.
No shutdown, but Heron on the desktop, and new versions of all sorts.
Apart from Samba all seemed to be OK.
Shutdown and restart gave some unfamiliar error messages bu
seeing the same on T61 with Nvidia graphics card.
Sometimes the flashing _ stays for about 1 minute, then the login prompt
comes up... other times it "never" (OK, as long as my patience lasts)
returns.
Oh, and the crescent moon standby LED flashes all this time as well.

Ah, finally I've found someone with the same problem. I don't know
exactly what Conexant I have in my HP Pavilion dv9000 but the sound is
severely distorted after upgrading to 8.04. It's as if the volume being
sent is far too high for the system to handle but the distortion is
there even if I low
I just upgraded from 7.10. The driver's not listed in Hardware Drivers
-- in 7.10 it (and my modem) were there, now there's nothing. the
interface was not listed under ifconfig.

I couldn't get stock iwl3945 to work either with ubuntu 7.10's stock
kernel, but the newer version in Ubuntu 8.04 (where it's the default) is

Hi All,
Same problem on my Dell L400 with fresh Xubuntu 8.04 install.
The Laptop used to go into sleep mode while loading X.
I followed the advices and put Sleep modes to false in /etc/default/acpi-support
Now xunbuntu load perfectly to login screen.
Problem is that the laptop go into sleep mod
Just saw that FF3 is affected by the same problem

Thanks, that worked!
Quite a confusing option though, I must say. It being grouped with the
"Run custom command instead of the shell" option, I thought the shell
itself was not considered a command in the context. That and the Leave
Open option resulting in basically a useless tab is not too intui
I had the same problem. Thanks to Agostino Russo advice, I solved it on
my pc by cleanning a bit my HDD and running jkdefrag.

My desktop system under gutsy ran with temperatures in the 25C to 35C
I upgraded to hardy very successfully losing nothing but now the
temperatures are in the 45C to 50C range

I think you will find that the window is opened, though it starts in the
background. So if you use Alt-Tab a couple of times, you'll see it.
I confirm this bug, and would like to see it fixed. I think it's related
to compiz's window stacking algorithms.

If you still have this same issue on the final version of Ubuntu 8.04
then please show the output of this command:
dpkg -l | grep 1:2.4.0-3ubuntu6
That will show me which packages you have installed which might help me
determine the cause of the problem.
