We use PuTTY SSH tunnels to connect for email. I am exploring the
possibility of using Ubuntu Hardy as an enduser platform. I looked at
the workaround above, Explicitly configure PuTTY to use an IPv4
listening socket (change 'Auto' to 'IPv4'). And tried that. I am still

play the audio from these mkv files I have. I beleive it to be ogg

I ran across your post b/c I was looking for a solution for why my
lastfm client stopped running with the same error you were having...
I fixed it and it was definitely caused by a third party app that
installed an old version of libQt... in my cases nessus..
found it by typing:
ldconfig -v
My system is fully updated now but the problem is not fixed. I did find
that I can type 'sudo killall sudo' and then it recovers and asks for
the password.

The greyed out characteristic affects just one window in Firefox; if I
open a link in another window that is in normal colour. Opening the

I am sorry that I didn't write this any sooner, but I could not find
this page until the notification mail arrived.
I have switched to Debian a while ago but still had the same problem. I
needed to compile a new kernel anyway; by trial and error I found the
reason for my network card problems.
This may now be verified using the images here:

I've tried Thomas workaround by disabling the NW manager. This worked
great (a lot faster as well ;)) apart from one thing that required me to
enable network manager again.
I'm using Amarok with a mysql database on my Kubuntu Hardy machine. Without
the Network manager mysql won't start at boot
Nothing like posting a question in a public forum to get you to find the
(obvious) answer yourself. In xorg.conf, I replaced
Option AccelMethod exa
with
Option AccelMethod xaa
and now everything is speedy again. I'm not clear on what I'm losing
by doing this, but I don't do
I also noticed this after upgrading to Hardy. Didn't happen in Gutsy.
I'm using a Dell D620 laptop with a Dell 2407WFP 24 monitor.

After reboot, without making any changes, this is what screen looks
like. Note the difference in timezone for amsterdam in the two windows
(again, I did not make changes myself)!
Does any one have an idea how to prevent this?
