i had the same problem...evolution was storing folders so much it was
causing bad lag...and i had to close it.
ran across a suggestion for the command line...i ran it as root...it
seems to have fixed things for the moment...though it's only been a few
hours.

So you are saying that wicd doesn't work when lo is configured in
/etc/network/interfaces? That sounds like a bug in wicd to me.
It seems we know the bug here now, so I'm going to modify

I am now running Evolution 2.22.2 with all the latest updates on Hardy.
We are also running a Scalix V11.4 server and I connect via IMAP, but

1) your motherboard conflicts with your graphic card
2) there's a regression in the new fglrx driver
3) your card is dying.
