trouble... Some minor change in Samba has made this happen. I only have

A single update this morning (libpq5) hung. I know straight away whether
it's going to work or not because if it's going to work I get asked for
the root password. If I don't get asked, it hangs.
Personally, my feeling is perhaps the problem is not in the update
manager itself (hence most people
Given that we're verifying Kubuntu's Guidance Power Manger in this bug,
I think it's not at all suprising that the KDE change didn't fix the
Gnome user's problem. I'd vote irrelevant. Personally I've seen
considerable improvement from this fix and I don't actually have the
problematic hardware.
I just 'kill'ed the process (showed as before with ps -ef, i.e. 'Please
wait, this can take some time') . That returned focus to the Update
Manager window, it redisplayed the update screen, I clicked 'Update'
again... and I was asked for the root password and it all updated
correctly - no hanging.

Is network manager aware of resolvconf at all? On installation
resolvconf hooks itself into /etc/network, /etc/ppp and others. It seems
like network manager and resolvconf interfere with each others'
modifications on /etc/resolv.conf.
So the solution might be to either mark those two packages as
