If I remove the Samba-share bookmark in Nautilus, it stops trying to
connect immediately upon login to Gnome desktop. That would resolve my
problem with hangs at work, but it does mean that I can no longer
bookmark unavailable SMB-servers in Nautilus without problems.

I'm running Hardy with all the latest updates, and I have a similar
problem, only with another error:

I can confirm this. I actually had the same problem and had to compile
from the sources again to fix it.

I've found a workaround for this problem by passing the "iommu=soft" to the
kernel!!! Amazing, everything works!
it is something that has to do with AMD iommu module and kernel
incompatibilities.
