Problem still exists in Ubuntu 8.04 - Any program that requires a GUI is
unable to run without the export DISPLAY=... line.
FYI this is the same problem people are having with cron and crontab.

The 'at' command fails to execute commands at the given times and dates
Now the buttons don't work to move messages to my Webmail folders either
on Ubuntu. Later today I'll resort to re-install and see if that fixes
it.
Does Ubuntu automatically collect or upload errors nightly to make
Ubuntu better? That would be a good idea if it doesn't.

The logs indicate that packages you downloaded got corrupted before
being attempted to be installed.

I'd like to back up that last comment about the exact same symptoms with
the Marvell 88E8001 which has caused me constant kernel panics while
using Firefox and torrent. I've had the problems through Gutsy and Hardy
and am lucky enough to have two Gigabit adapters on my Asus A8N-SLI
Deluxe

Adding the line to .bashrc made no difference. The Gnome 'Places
Computer' link still doesn't work, nor does automounting, and all the
fixed drives are still listed under 'Removable Drives'.

Update. The cube issue was my fault. I failed to re-enable the cube
rotate plugin and only enabled cube desktop. Once rotate was
enabled, it worked.
So, the only issue is that after the updates were installed GDM crashed
upon first restart (which was prompted by the updates) and 3D effects

Howdy. I am experiencing the same problem under Kubuntu / Hardy AMD64
and do not have openoffice.org-gtk or openoffice.org-gnome installed. I
do however have openoffice.org-kde installed and removing that
