[Bug 244420] Re: open ssh in Intrepid will not connect to my hardy ssh server.
** Description changed: So basically, I've got a desktop running Hardy 64; on it is running an open ssh server. This open ssh server is set to only accept my key, no passwords. I've got a laptop; on this laptop I'm able to connect to the ssh server using Hardy 32 bit, but when I use Intrepid 64 bit it doesn't work. The interesting thing is that using Intrepid, both sides seem to think it worked just fine. For example on the server, /var/log/auth.log says that it has accepted my public key, and on the laptop's side netstat -t says that the ssh connection is established, and also the output of ssh -v -v is exactly as expected. The only problem is I never get a [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ prompt. The terminal just hangs and ctrl+c/z/whatever doesn't do anything. Here's some output that may be very helpful: Code: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ md5sum /etc/ssh/ssh_config md5sum /media/hardy/etc/ssh/ssh_config md5sum /home/ryan/.ssh/identity md5sum /media/hardy/home/ryan/.ssh/identity eb59056334fffc55e9f308f0e2315c38 /etc/ssh/ssh_config eb59056334fffc55e9f308f0e2315c38 /media/hardy/etc/ssh/ssh_config cfa*they're the same ;)a9 /home/ryan/.ssh/identity cfa*they're the same ;)a9 /media/hardy/home/ryan/.ssh/identity [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ ssh -v -v 192.168.0.102 OpenSSH_4.7p1 Debian-12ubuntu1, OpenSSL 0.9.8g 19 Oct 2007 debug1: Reading configuration data /etc/ssh/ssh_config debug1: Applying options for * debug2: ssh_connect: needpriv 0 debug1: Connecting to 192.168.0.102 [192.168.0.102] port 22. debug1: Connection established. debug2: key_type_from_name: unknown key type '-BEGIN' debug2: key_type_from_name: unknown key type '-END' debug1: identity file /home/ryan/.ssh/identity type -1 debug1: Remote protocol version 2.0, remote software version OpenSSH_4.7p1 Debian-8ubuntu1.2 debug1: match: OpenSSH_4.7p1 Debian-8ubuntu1.2 pat OpenSSH* debug1: Enabling compatibility mode for protocol 2.0 debug1: Local version string SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_4.7p1 Debian-12ubuntu1 debug2: fd 3 setting O_NONBLOCK debug1: SSH2_MSG_KEXINIT sent debug1: SSH2_MSG_KEXINIT received debug2: kex_parse_kexinit: diffie-hellman-group-exchange-sha256,diffie-hellman-group-exchange-sha1,diffie-hellman-group14-sha1,diffie-hellman-group1-sha1 debug2: kex_parse_kexinit: ssh-rsa,ssh-dss debug2: kex_parse_kexinit: aes128-cbc,3des-cbc,blowfish-cbc,cast128-cbc,arcfour128,arcfour256,arcfour,aes192-cbc,aes256-cbc,[EMAIL PROTECTED],aes128-ctr,aes192-ctr,aes256-ctr debug2: kex_parse_kexinit: aes128-cbc,3des-cbc,blowfish-cbc,cast128-cbc,arcfour128,arcfour256,arcfour,aes192-cbc,aes256-cbc,[EMAIL PROTECTED],aes128-ctr,aes192-ctr,aes256-ctr debug2: kex_parse_kexinit: hmac-md5,hmac-sha1,[EMAIL PROTECTED],hmac-ripemd160,[EMAIL PROTECTED],hmac-sha1-96,hmac-md5-96 debug2: kex_parse_kexinit: hmac-md5,hmac-sha1,[EMAIL PROTECTED],hmac-ripemd160,[EMAIL PROTECTED],hmac-sha1-96,hmac-md5-96 debug2: kex_parse_kexinit: none,[EMAIL PROTECTED],zlib debug2: kex_parse_kexinit: none,[EMAIL PROTECTED],zlib debug2: kex_parse_kexinit: debug2: kex_parse_kexinit: debug2: kex_parse_kexinit: first_kex_follows 0 debug2: kex_parse_kexinit: reserved 0 debug2: kex_parse_kexinit: diffie-hellman-group-exchange-sha256,diffie-hellman-group-exchange-sha1,diffie-hellman-group14-sha1,diffie-hellman-group1-sha1 debug2: kex_parse_kexinit: ssh-rsa,ssh-dss debug2: kex_parse_kexinit: aes128-cbc,3des-cbc,blowfish-cbc,cast128-cbc,arcfour128,arcfour256,arcfour,aes192-cbc,aes256-cbc,[EMAIL PROTECTED],aes128-ctr,aes192-ctr,aes256-ctr debug2: kex_parse_kexinit: aes128-cbc,3des-cbc,blowfish-cbc,cast128-cbc,arcfour128,arcfour256,arcfour,aes192-cbc,aes256-cbc,[EMAIL PROTECTED],aes128-ctr,aes192-ctr,aes256-ctr debug2: kex_parse_kexinit: hmac-md5,hmac-sha1,[EMAIL PROTECTED],hmac-ripemd160,[EMAIL PROTECTED],hmac-sha1-96,hmac-md5-96 debug2: kex_parse_kexinit: hmac-md5,hmac-sha1,[EMAIL PROTECTED],hmac-ripemd160,[EMAIL PROTECTED],hmac-sha1-96,hmac-md5-96 debug2: kex_parse_kexinit: none,[EMAIL PROTECTED] debug2: kex_parse_kexinit: none,[EMAIL PROTECTED] debug2: kex_parse_kexinit: debug2: kex_parse_kexinit: debug2: kex_parse_kexinit: first_kex_follows 0 debug2: kex_parse_kexinit: reserved 0 debug2: mac_setup: found hmac-md5 debug1: kex: server-client aes128-cbc hmac-md5 none debug2: mac_setup: found hmac-md5 debug1: kex: client-server aes128-cbc hmac-md5 none debug1: SSH2_MSG_KEX_DH_GEX_REQUEST(102410248192) sent debug1: expecting SSH2_MSG_KEX_DH_GEX_GROUP debug2: dh_gen_key: priv key bits set: 132/256 debug2: bits set: 519/1024 debug1: SSH2_MSG_KEX_DH_GEX_INIT sent debug1: expecting SSH2_MSG_KEX_DH_GEX_REPLY debug1: Host '192.168.0.102' is known and matches the RSA host key. debug1: Found key in /home/ryan/.ssh/known_hosts:1 debug2: bits set: 516/1024 debug1: ssh_rsa_verify: signature correct debug2: kex_derive_keys debug2: set_newkeys: mode 1 debug1:

[Bug 244406] Re: File load data infile'file-name' fails
Mathais: I would like to appeal your decision on this on the basis that mysqld already applies the necessary restriction and that the apparmor restriction is redundant, plus it is not granular per user. MySQL defaults to having LOAD DATA INFILE off due to the Files Privilege being off. This is due to the apparmor profile for mysqld that disallows the mysqld process to read files in /var/www. On 7.04 all I needed was to GRANT FILES PRIVILEGES to use LOAD DATA INFILE. As it is now, apparmor thwarts my user-level GRANTS. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingApparmor for more information on this. Here is what I did and it seems to work: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo aa-complain /usr/sbin/mysqld [sudo] password for gelmjw: Setting /usr/sbin/mysqld to complain mode. [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo /etc/init.d/apparmor reload Reloading AppArmor profiles : done. [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ Thanks for the link. However I believe this is a workaround. Of course, I could be totally ignorant on this, so if there is a link to help understand why the apparmor restriction is there, I would be happy to be informed. [Bug 123064] Re: Upgrade to Eclipse 3.4
I've been working on a package for 3.4 since RC1. I just uploaded a source package to my [[https://launchpad.net/~rock-gimp/+archive ppa]]. It is based off of the never-released packaging for 3.3 in debian's pkg- java svn. There are a few major issues: * Help indexing causes memory corruption, which leads to a crash. This seems to be a gcj-4.2 issue; other jvms don't seem to have this problem. Unfortunately, the source package is set up to build with gcj, so some of the help file packages never get built. Furthermore, if you try to search help files installed using the update manager while running under gcj, eclipse crashes. * The Eclipse source build lost the ability to compile the SWT native libraries sometime between RC1 and the final release. This package uses the .so files that come in the upstream tarball. * There are several jars that were replaced with symlinks to jars in /usr/share/java. Since the 3.4 versions have had osgi properties added to their manifests, this isn't a safe transformation anymore, so those files aren't replaced with symlinks anymore. * P2 doesn't work. If you enable classic update, you can still use it to install new plugins from update sites. Despite all that, I've found it to be reasonably stable and much more useful to me than the 3.2 packages in Hardy. -- Upgrade to Eclipse 3.4 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/123064 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 185311] Re: hardy, locking assertion failure, xorg/libsdl
I'm marking the libxcb bug won't fix for hardy because a) the only libxcb fix we can deploy at this point would be to disable libxcb entirely - with the side effect of disabling compiz for everyone (c.f. comment #137), and b) a viable workaround exists (c.f. comment #144). [Bug 215614] Re: Evolution Exchange unreliability in Hardy
I'm still experiencing many lock-ups, even with version 2.22.2 The functionality of evolution in gutsy has not generally been a problem, very occasionally I would get email appear on my phone that didn't appear via OWA in evolution, it would lock up one a week or so - but I ould live with that However, since the update to hardy things have been getting progressively worse. The messages in one of my inbox folders has somehow got out of sync - if I preview or open a message it is different to the message in the list - many of the messages that open are junk messages yet the junk message folder is empty. Potentially I've lost a lot of messages - not sure if my old messages still exist somewhere or if they have been replaced?? By far the worst part is that now it locks up at least every half hour. I've just tried renaming the evolution folder and restarting but even that has now locked up. Here's a sample of some of the messages I've been getting - (evolution:9077): libecal-WARNING **: e-cal.c:318: Unexpected response BBDB spinning up... [Bug 242647] Re: Importing Pictures from a digital camera using f-spot or gthumb fails to preserve creation date timestamp
Just like to confirm everything above, only fails on 8.04, worked on earlier versions My camera is a Canon powershot A710IS I also tried retrieving the date stamps from the EXIF data using jhead but this didn't seem to work, it just retrieved the system date from when the photos were imported from the camera by F-spot. F-spot seems aware of the date the photo was taken as it imports but overwrites it subsequently by the system date ( and time ). Also at the moment it seems impossible to access the camera directly through the USB, see #242644 -- Importing Pictures from a digital camera using f-spot or gthumb fails to preserve creation date timestamp https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/242647 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Marking libxcb won't fix for Hardy because a) while we know it's a bug in libxcb, the only fix we know of at this time is to disable libxcb entirely - with the side effect of breaking compiz for everyone, b) Cody's workaround by shifting when gnome-screensaver starts up seems likely to avoid the problem condition, and c) if/when a fixed libxcb becomes available, it will probably be too large of a patch to be SRU'd. However, leaving this open for Intrepid since we expect to see a new libxcb in time for Intrepid, that should hopefully solve this issue. ** Changed in: libxcb (Ubuntu Hardy) Status: New = Won't Fix -- dbus-launch hangs at session start waiting on socket output in libxcb https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/232364 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 123064] Re: Upgrade to Eclipse 3.4

It seems to me that a good idea would be to help out Rockwalrus with the building. -- Upgrade to Eclipse 3.4 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/123064 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 232364] Re: dbus-launch hangs at session start waiting on socket output in libxcb
Ok, thanks for the explanation. Do you think gnome-screensaver wont even attempt to start dbus-launch (through dbus library itself, supposedly), if it finds it preset in environment? In that case the sleep will be definitely unnecessary. A quick inspection of dbus sources (_dbus_transport_open in dbus- transport.c) seems to show that the first successfully opened transport will be used. The transport gets selected according to the current environment (including information stored in X display atoms). -- dbus-launch hangs at session start waiting on socket output in libxcb https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/232364 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 244442] [NEW] screen deadlock
Public bug reported: affects ubuntu/screen I seem to have found a deadlock between vim and screen. To reproduce: start screen start vim inside screen copy (using screen) lots (say 800+ bytes) of text, enough to make vim pause when you copy and paste it. in vim, enter insert mode and paste the text. There should be a pause while vim syntax highlights it. While it does this hit ctrl-C (which should make vim stop highlighting). Instead, it appears to deadlock the screen server process, and it has to be killed (killing vim and everything else, naturally). -Rob -- GPG key available at: http://www.robertcollins.net/keys.txt. ** Affects: screen (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- screen deadlock https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/22 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
