It's impossible to blacklist ssb.
I have tried adding it to /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist, creating a
/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-ssb file only for it but nothing works.
I have even removed ssb.ko and rebooted and then the module was still there,
shown in lsmod.

Same here. Compaq D51S EVO - I tried a CTRL-ALT-F1 quickly after
completing the login and came back later to find a desktop. Another time
I came back too quick to see the panels go away leaving me with an empty
desktop and a useless mouse cursor. Same error "gnome-wm.desktop failed

The applet crashed again but this time without interaction with it. What
I mean is that I didn't use it to make it crash. I was selecting files
on the desktop.
I also discovered the report was private and saw no reason for this, so
I set it as public.

Right. Currently bluez-utils recommends bluez-audio. Same way it can
also recommend bluez-input, bluez-network and bluez-serial. I will log a
separate bug for that.
