manager applet to NOT manage the networks??
I have a static network here and this broke it totally.
As of today NetworkManager is unusable for me using any of the suggestions here.

That's not the Ubuntu team team which is to blame but the Ekiga one.
They didn't follow the GNOME schedule as they didn't release
devloppement versions during this cycle so the needed depencies were not
packaged and Ekiga 3 was not extensively tested in Intrepid.

The same thing here at approximately the same time during startup. The
point where the computer hangs does change a little, however. I'm also
running Intrepid on new hardware, so I don't know if the same thing
would happen on, e.g., Hardy.

When there is an error generated in /etc/profile, gdm crashes on user login
without any error.
To reproduce, source a non existent file in /etc/profile( add '.

I don't know nor don't care about what Ubuntu provides, but what I see
from the screenshot *is* the Qt4 fake printer, the one that Okular
disables for the PDF printing. If it would be a real printer (like I do
have VPDF here), Okular would see it without a single problem (modulo
previous Qt 4.4.0
