I forgot to mention that. acpi_listen does not report any acpi events
when any of the key combinations mentioned are depressed. acpi_listen
does report the power button acpi_event, so acpi_listen is working.

I have a California Access W651DI (modified Arima W651DFAI-M1) laptop. With
standard kernel I have no sound, even the proper module snd-hda-intel loaded. I
spent a lot of time to find a solution and I found that
sound/pci/hda/patch
umm that's why, I had specified i810 in xorg.conf before the upgrade,
and so that's why Xorg was refusing to start, after running "dpkg-
reconfigure xserver-xorg", "Intel" driver is being used (although not
explicitly specified on xorg.conf, but I shows up on Xorg.0.log as
being used).

Jos and Christian, I think this is a new bug. The symptoms are the same
with kacpid or kacpi_notify consuming all CPU but it appears after
resuming from suspend (to ram or disk) and not while running the system.
It is also interesting that at all three of us have Dell laptops. I
filed a new report
I'm currently using the Intrepid beta (8.10) but I believe this happened
to me on 8.04 also. I am using Compiz also.
