I can't reproduce this bug on Intrepid with wine 1.1.8 from winehq.
To get scim input in wine, since I'm using a fr_FR session, I run this command
first:
export LANG=zh_CN.UTF-8
Then:
wine notepad
I can still use the backspace kay, and I get that on the terminal when I type
in a notepad
Yes, my problem was that I had an xset command in ~/.bashrc, to map the
right Super key to Multikey, and the keycodes changed between Hardy and
Intrepid. Now everything works.

I just did a clean install of mythbuntu 8.10 on the machine in question,
